I'd never heard of the Hungry Ghost - but love the idea. I also love your final thought, that she (or he) is already dead! What a great push-back to the workaholic trap you outline. Fantastic self-awareness!

Thank you so much Andy! Yes! I'm sure there is a hungry ghost in each and every one of us! They have so much control over our minds, if we let them! Best to befriend and then tame them. 😊 Thank you xx

I had never heard of this concept but it makes total sense! I’m still very much setting boundaries with my Hungry Ghost. I’m appreciative to have one (because I know not everyone does) but I also struggle to put “him” in check. When we’re heading in the same direction, all is great… I have two extra hands to help handle the work. But when we have different priorities, that’s when things get interesting!

Hi Jack! Thank you! Its very helpful to have a name for that aching relentless desire in all of us. You can call him out if he is going into overdrive and detach yourself mindfully from your hungry ghost in a "you are not your thoughts" kind of way.

I love this idea of having 2 extra hands !! Haha. Yes Hungry Ghosts can make us so productive!! Its true that some people do not have one or do not have persuasive ones and im glad that I do have one that needs taming! Thank you for sharing your thoughts Jack! And welcome!

This is so powerful because I too have a Hungry Ghost. In this book I was reading, the author talks about how we all have a daimon, which is another word for attendant spirit or inner genius, fate. But of the shadow of the daimon is the demon, which drives us to compulsion. I’m still learning to befriend mine. Love the insights you’ve offered here!

I love my hungry ghost, but it often gets drowned out by the busyness of life. When I take a moment to be quiet—usually through meditation—it becomes clear what my hungry ghost truly wants.

Rachel! It is so nice to hear from you. Yes, that is very important point, sometimes we want to hear her above the noise and connect with what we desire too. Thank you so much for reading and supporting along.
